The Real McCoys (starring Walter Brennan, Richard Crenna, and Kathy Nolan) debuted on the ABC television network on October 3, 1957. It was television s first family-oriented, rural comedy and paved the way for such hits as The Andy Griffith Show, Green Acres, and The Beverly Hillbillies. Against the predictions from TV critics of an early departure, The Real McCoys became a ratings favorite, lasting five seasons on ABC.
